TWILD
Tu’dese’cho Wholistic Indigenous Leadership Development Society works towards a better future for Tahltan people by focusing on the increased wellbeing of individuals and communities through leadership development, generational mentorship, land-based education and cultural teachings.
Making a Positive Impact
TWILD is the first Tahltan non-government organization and it was created to provide Tahltan people with land-based learning for leadership development and cultural programming and to blend educational and career goals with Tahltan cultural.
TWILD is unique because our programming is happening in Tahltan Territory using Tahltan methodology; we base our practices on Tahltan ways of knowing, approaches, and methods. TWILD can serve as a model to use Indigenous philosophies and transfer these ideologies and skill sets from generation to generation.
For Future Generations
Our primary directive is to provide programs for youth and young adults and to undertake projects based on Tahltan culture. We do this through intergenerational mentorship: youth are mentored by those who are older than them, young adults are mentored by those who are older than them, adults are mentored by Elders. We believe that these relationship are reciprocal and mutually beneficial. By teaching each other, we are creating a bright future for ourselves, our community, our nation, and future generations.
